One of the most important decisions

In the lives of teenagers, we beg them to make pre-decisions. We desperately don’t want them to make decisions in the heat of the moment. Whether it’s a decision to lie or tell the truth, go too far or say no, or betray a friend, making a decision in advance of the opportunity of temptation can spare our children costly scars. I love the way a friend recently worded it: “Make Friday night decisions on Sunday.”For many of the women at Highpoint, we’re smack dab in the middle of doing Henry Blackaby’s Experiencing God. It’s an imperative part of your journey in this world to accept that God loves you and is for you. If you haven’t 100% settled this in your heart, then when the next storm of life comes and knocks you over, you’ll be tempted to allow your circumstances to deceive you into believing a lie about who your Heavenly Father is and His love for you.We can never understand our circumstances apart from God’s perspective… and if we don’t truly grasp His love for us, we’ll trust our own perspective rather than allowing our Heavenly Father to give us His. We might look at someone else going through a divorce, or an illness, or a loss of a job, or any number of other challenging circumstances, and have no doubt about God’s goodness or love for them in the midst of a hard season. But when that hard thing lands on our lap, it isn’t quite as easy to maintain that peace and confidence.We’re told we’ll have trials in this world (James 1:2). The question isn’t if we’ll have trials, but if we’ll trust our loving Heavenly Father to guide us through them. Ask God to help you settle in your heart right now that He alone knows what’s best for you, wants what’s best for you, and can give you what’s best.
